Sankofa is an Adinkra symbol from the Akan people of Ghana that means “go back and get it,” usually shown as a bird walking forward while turning its head backward to take a precious egg from its back, or as a stylized heart shape. It teaches that we must look back to our history—our ancestors, struggles, and wisdom—in order to move forward wisely into the future. In African and African diasporic communities, Sankofa has become a powerful emblem of remembering the trauma of slavery and colonization while reclaiming culture, dignity, and identity. It reminds us that honoring the past is not about living in it, but about courageously retrieving what was lost or suppressed so we can build stronger, more liberated futures for ourselves and the generations that follow.

You've now found the staple t-shirt of your wardrobe. It's made of 100% ring-spun cotton and is soft and comfy. The double stitching on the neckline and sleeves add more durability to what is sure to be a favorite!
